RIMS, the risk management society, will be handing this year’s Harry & Dorothy Goodell Award to RIMS Australasia Chapter president Eamonn Cunningham.

“Throughout Eamonn’s remarkable risk management career, he has unselfishly dedicated his time and expertise to not only advancing the profession but to creating opportunities for other risk leaders to succeed along with him,” RIMS chief executive Gary LaBranche said in an emailed release.

“The Harry & Dorothy Goodell Award celebrates the best-of-the-best in risk management. RIMS is sincerely grateful to Eamonn for his extraordinary contributions and his unwavering commitment to sharing his experiences. It is an honor to present him with this prestigious award.”

Cunningham, who will be presented with the Society’s highest honor at RISKWORLD in San Diego on May 6, was instrumental in the establishment of Australian Reinsurance Pool Corporation. The former Westfield/Scentre Group chief risk officer was also integral in the formation of RIMS Australasia Chapter.

Commenting on the recognition, Cunningham said: “To this day, I continue to marvel at the extraordinary leadership my colleagues within the risk community exhibit as they pave the way for countless organizations to navigate the volatility and unpredictability our world continues to present us.

“It has been a privilege to work alongside so many exceptional professionals and to learn from their experiences. The camaraderie within the risk management profession is unlike any other. I continue to champion our industry, lend my support, and provide guidance. I am sincerely honored to be recognized by the RIMS community.”
