Nintendo’s Switch 2 Reportedly Delayed Until 2025

We might be waiting a little longer for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Rumors have pointed to the console being released later this year; however, now that release date is expected to fall sometime in early 2025.

Sources speaking with VGC have said that the company is now targeting a release in Q1 of next year, with a plan to release a number of games alongside the console, one of which is likely to be Metroid Prime 4m which was announced in 2017 but has been rumored to be on hold until the new console arrives.

The delay could have the console launching around the same time as its predecessor. The original Switch launched in March of 2017.

Amongst other updates, the new Nintendo Switch is expected to have an 8-inch display, representing a 1-inch increase over the console’s current display.

Nintendo has sold 132 million units of the existing console.

In September, the company was reportedly showing off a prototype of the Switch 2 to developers running a modified version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to demonstrate what the new console can do.
