Apple Sports App Organizes Your Favorite Teams, Integrates With Apple TV

Apple has made some big bets on sports streaming, from Friday Night Baseball to Major League Soccer, and it’s now packaging real-time scores, stats, and other content into a new app, dubbed Apple Sports.

The app is available for download on the App Store in the US, UK, and Canada right now with support for English, French, and Spanish languages. It looks similar to many third-party sports apps already available. Users can pick the sports and teams they wish to follow and Apple Sports will populate a feed that shows scores, stats, and more.

According to Apple, fans can “easily navigate between scores and upcoming games” and see things like betting odds, lineup details, team stats, and play-by-play information.

The app also boasts integration with Apple TV and connected streaming apps so you can check the score and then watch the game. Apple says that the app will sync with favorites selected in Apple’s My Sports experience on Apple TV as well.

That’s especially nice for MLS since Apple has exclusive streaming rights with the soccer league. It’s also been streaming Friday night baseball games with MLB for a while.

There are a variety of sports, leagues, and tournaments for people to follow, including MLS, NBA, NCAA men’s and women’s basketball, NHL, Bundesliga, LaLiga, Liga MX, Ligue 1, Premier League, and Serie A.

“We created Apple Sports to give sports fans what they want — an app that delivers incredibly fast access to scores and stats,” Apple’s senior vice president of services, Eddy Cue, said in Apple’s press release. “Apple Sports is available for free in the App Store, and makes it easy for users to stay up to date with their favorite teams and leagues.”

Currently, the app is only available for iPhone on models running iOS 17.2 or later.
