During his 20-year insurance career, Chad Hall has placed thousands of policies and billions of dollars in premiums. Now president of RT Specialty – Tampa, Hall currently manages an office of more than 100 brokers.

Hall’s drive for continuous personal improvement has landed him a spot on the Insurance Business America Hot 100, which recognizes insurance professionals who are shaping the future of the industry.

“You are only as good as your last deal,” Hall told IBA. “Competition will be elevated the next time around, so you have to bring your A-game and continuously elevate your performance each and every day.”

Hall began his career as a contractor, and grew interested in insurance because an acquaintance ran an agency.

“It was the success that my neighbor had running an agency that drew my attention to the insurance industry,” he said. “It was intriguing that I could specialize in the construction industry but pursue it through a different avenue. So, I set out to be a construction specialist on day one of my insurance career.”

Hall credited his success to an ability to adapt to new challenges.

“My strongest qualities are creativity in solutions and production ideation,” he told IBA. “I am constantly thinking about different ways to approach the business and challenge the status quo and the way products are being offered. Listening to the market needs and thinking about how products can be designed around that is something I have a strong skill set for.”

Hall has recently taken on a mentoring role with clients, colleagues, and his team, creating “BOR the Tour,” an educational series that brings agents, brokers, attorneys and underwriters together to discuss issues and strategies relevant to the construction insurance space.

“Many of the products and solutions my team has developed over the past decade have become industry standards today, and I am constantly ideating new products and strategies to stay relevant in this industry,” he said. “But it is not just because of the products and services that I have created that I have had influence, but also through mentorship and speaking engagements.

“I live by the motto, ‘always hungry, never content,’” he said. “If you are not thirsty for knowledge, challenging yourself and the way things are being done, as well as embracing change, then you will become irrelevant in this space very quickly.”
