Alliant Insurance Services has announced the appointment of Greg Zimmer (pictured) as its chief executive officer. He will be succeeding Tom Corbett, who will retain his position as the company’s executive chairman.

Zimmer joined Alliant in 1998 as CFO and became president in 2007. In this role, he took charge of the company’s overall direction, while overseeing all M&A activity. His leadership led to 100 acquisitions across strategic US markets and an employee count of nearly 11,000.

Corbett endorsed Zimmer’s capabilities in an emailed news release, noting his successful guidance of Alliant through significant growth and expansion.

“During his exceptional career with Alliant, Greg has successfully guided the company through a period of tremendous growth and expansion with both visionary leadership and an entrepreneurial focus,” he said. “Greg’s appointment to CEO will ensure long-term stability for Alliant and will support our continued growth well into the future. I believe our best days are ahead of us.”

Zimmer also expressed gratitude for Corbett’s leadership, highlighting his contributions to the company’s culture.

“Tom’s outstanding leadership of Alliant has placed our organization in a remarkable position, bolstered by an entrepreneurial, collaborative culture that allows us to maximize our impact and grow with purpose,” said Zimmer. “We continue to attract the best talent in the industry and take tremendous pride in offering our clients anunparalleled level of service.”

Corbett has been with Alliant since 1977. He led the company as CEO for over three decades, steering it to become  prominent name within the national insurance brokerage and consulting space.

More leadership changes announced

With Zimmer assuming the CEO role, Alliant also announced the promotion of Ralph Hurst to president.

Further leadership changes include the following:

  • Pater Arkley has been named president, national brokerage. He will oversee retail property & casualty and employee benefits.
  • Sean McConlogue has been tapped to lead Alliant Underwriting and Consumer Solutions as president, responsible for the combined underwriting and consumer operations.

These changes will take effect on April 1, according to a company release.
